Our second issues was finding out our fire extinguisher was expired and had yet to have been replaced even after them finding out.
Quiet, clean apartments. The general resident population is considerate of one another. Management is friendly and easy to engage with and work with. Maintenance comes promptly when repairs are needed. Frequent pest control visits keep any creepy-crawlies away. The two pools are kept in good condition, and the resident community is usually respectful regarding pool use (except for a couple occasions throughout the year). Management gives proper notice before entering apartments. The parking lot is on the small side for how many apartments there are, but there are multiple options available for residents, including street-side parking and a couple proper parking lots. Informational flyers are passed out to new residents that include information on local businesses and utility companies, as well as apartment and emergency exit maps. The floorplans for most apartments are open and spacious. Electricity usually runs cheap.
EDIT: So we asked them to fix the plumbing and leaking and we were told that if there was any extensive damage to the apartment we would have to pay since we didn't tell them about it "soon enough". Maintenance came in and revealed that rust had eaten through most of the pipes. When he left saying it was fixed it continued to leak.
Now the plumbing. Do not go to any of the hornet residential apartments. They don't take valid health concerns of old and even new apartments seriously until it is too late.
The people are really nice and I love that I'm a short walk away from the apartments, but these buildings are so old that you run into maintenance problems constantly. We're looking for a new place because all of the plumbing needs to be redone. Pools are pretty nice though.
These apartments are a little on the expensive side, but are well worth the cleanliness and peace of mind. They feel very safe. These would be especially good apartments for international students.
