ESU is a totally laidback environment that you can easily cope with if you're from a big city like KC or Chicago. Even though, Emporia is a medium sized city/town, there are a lot hobbies and pastimes to do when you're not studying and the tuition rate is pretty darn cheap! If you are a new student or returning student, you should probably consider going there if you want a memorable experience that you won't forget!
I studied and got my Biology degree at ESU and I have to say that it is one of the best colleges! A nice small community of fantastic professors and people that are always there to help with an open door policy. Great campus life and great college experience!
Nearly every general education class is taught by a grad student that doesn't know how to teach. My advisor was useless in helping me pick classes and make decisions about applying for programs. Residental life billed me for damages that didn't happen after I switched schools. They really make it feel like they are trying to suck your pockets dry. There is no tailgating or school spirit for athletic events compared to other schools. Transferring was the best decision I've ever made.

Excellent education, top-notch professors and an awesome community. I'm an accounting /history major therefore my experience has been limited mainly to those two departments. Class sizes are small in comparison to larger schools thus enabling professors a more hands on approach and to actually get to know their students. I'm confident in the education I'm receiving and feel I will be well prepared to enter the work force upon completion of my degree programs. I'm very proud to say, I AM A HORNET!
