I was looking to do away with all of the drudgery of coloring my hair for years. I had a consult with Amy. (the owner) I was wanting to let my natural grey come out. I was very silver at the temples but wondered if the grey colors that are in at this time would be a good fit? Up on the consult we set up a strand test. I had the strand test ran and found the only way to remove the old color was bleaching. But she assured me that the silver color we were going to apply would match my grey as it came out, with the possibility of maybe a couple sessions to tweak it down the road. I chose a short cut, she said she was going to do a rough cut and then do a final cut for the style after all the processing was done. I choose a short cut because I knew there would be damage and deposit on the ends that maybe she had a hard time removing. Well after 4 hours spent there (which I knew it would be a long process) and 2 bleaching's and color added, it was 6:30. all the employee's were gone except us. I got a quick blow dry, no final shaping cut and the ends look like I had a "Cat Pee" on my head, which she assured me I would not have this look!! (Cat Pee was her own words when I went in for the consult) when I got up from the chair and looked in the mirror I saw that the ends were yellow, so I made a comment about them being that way? she said "Oh, it possible, but it could just be the light in here?" Well in less than a week I have dark roots coming in and are very visible, the cut was so short before the bleaching that now I have fried ends, that if she would have left it longer before the processing, they could have been trimmed off in "MY FINAL SHAPING/CUT" that never happened. Amazing what you will do when its 6:30 on a Saturday night and apparently you have plans for the evening....so skimp on the customer and get the heck out of there!! (and I was a first time customer!) My mother could have done what she did!! I went there because I saw that they did lots of colors and had just returned from a training in New Orleans. Well guess she didn't learn anything!!! I look like one of those women in a movie that is a fugitive or a abused woman, and locks herself in a truck stop restroom so she can change her identity with a box of hair bleach and a hair cut with a pair of dull rusty scissors she found in the trash along the way!!! Will not be back nor will I ever recommend this establishment to anyone!!! Cant speak for the other girls work.....but was not impressed with Amy Miller's work!! Hope she enjoys the $167 bucks she got out of me!! Oh, and with a color treatment in the month of Oct/Nov you get a free paraffin hand dip......And guess what...I didn't get that either...guess you have to be there 6 hours to receive that little gem!!! I am going to a reputable hairdresser to get all of this fixed today, should have asked around before I had this done....maybe I wouldn't have looked like a fugitive for the last week!!!
I have honestly never had a negative experience at this salon. I receive services from Amy, the owner, as well as the other stylists. They all have exceptional customer service and would NEVER use inappropriate or unprofessional terms to refer to hair or their clients. They are all very talented and work very hard to please everyone that walks through the front door. I have never once witnessed someone leaving the salon unhappy with their services or experience. It is sad that others negatively review great places like this and over extend their horrifically false stories, but I can assure you that you WILL NOT leave this salon unhappy. Thank you for all that you do Beauty Bar Team!
Only place I go to get my hair done.
As an african american woman, Emporia has always been a tough town to find what I would consider adequate beauty services beneficial for my hair and skin type. Not only does the beauty bar team offer that, but the constant upkeep on education is a definite comfort. I could literally write a novel about how phenomenal this place is, but their work speaks for itself. I am excited to watch this team continue to succeed and grow!!!!
Great customer service! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely recommend to all my friends and family
